Case Study

Dynafluid: Creating a whole-of-business ERP platform.

OVERVIEW
Dynafluid is a foundry and machine/assembly company who manufacture water and steam valves for other suppliers across the globe. They needed a full ERP solution that would enable them to streamline and digitise almost every business process and create a platform that would drive their growth.

THE CHALLENGE
Dynafluid used to operate via a highly complex system of paperwork and spreadsheets. It was time consuming, inefficient, and costly with too much room for error. The manual system was holding back their expansion and the third-party accounting package they used was cumbersome and not suited for their specific requirements.

THE BRIEF
The leadership at Dynafluid wanted to bring every process into one automated ERP system that would give them total control over the business and enable them to work more efficiently, effectively and profitably. They turned to us to scope, design and build a bespoke solution.

THE SOLUTION
The system we built is a total business solution.

All the various resources are then assigned PO numbers and orders are made ready to be sent out to
suppliers. The system also allocates the correct machine time needed to manufacture those parts and
tracks the stock as it comes in and used in the manufacturing process. The software does this in dayto-
day timeframes, so the manufacturing process is as efficient as possible and orders are processed
in a timely manner.

The key element is the MRP (Material Resource Planning) module. When a customer places an order,
the software works out what raw materials and parts are needed, how much those will cost, and the
lead times in getting those into the inventory. It also suggests an RRP for that order.

If the parts need to be sent off to a subcontractor, the software tracks the progress of the items and logs them back into the factory.

Once the order is completed, the ERP system tracks the dispatch and delivery, and the bespoke accounting module then creates and emails the invoice to the customer. That module also delivers all the necessary monthly and annual reports.

The ERP system also tracks enquiries, keeps prospect contact details and, vitally, keeps all the necessary records for their ISO accreditation. As Dynafluid has several subsidiaries and operates globally, the software handles currency exchange rates and tracks the movement of materials, orders and processes across all their businesses.

This ERP system was originally built over 20 years ago using a database that is still used by the financial sector and tech giants such as IBM. This rock-solid foundation means that we have been able to continue to support, maintain and enhance it without the need for costly rebuilds.

OTHER SERVICES
We have been working with Dynafluid since 2002 and we supply, install and maintain two in-house servers and all their IT hardware. We also provide the connectivity between their sites in Telford and their remote site in Manchester. In addition to supplying Microsoft 365 for Business for 10 licenses, we also provide and support an enterprise-grade cyber security platform for their servers, network and email. This is all backed up with remote and on-site customer support through our Pro Services solution.
